Seminar on inclusive education and volunteering

Seminar on inclusive education and volunteering

This training aims to be a meeting point for solidarity organisations, schools, teachers and volunteers. It was held at the Sabadell Hub Empresa in Valencia and brought together more than fifty people to share experiences on volunteering, establish debates on non-formal training, present successful practices for inclusive education and to make the work of solidarity organisations more effective.

The event was opened by Nacho Grande, Regional Secretary for Family and Social Services, who in his speech highlighted the invaluable work of the organisations that dedicate their time and resources to those most in need and, of course, stressed the importance of the volunteers. To the latter, she invited them to keep going despite the obstacles and discouragement. “Volunteers are where nobody wants to be and they do what nobody wants to do”, he also stressed: “volunteering is to make life difficult for others” and thanked them for the invitation to the event.

Save the Children and the Altius Foundation took part in the first round table and presented their vision of inclusive non-formal education and volunteering as an agent of change. In their interventions they shared objective data on the benefits of volunteering and the participants in the session shared their experiences on the subject.

After the coffee break, the YMCA and Fundación Conciénciate took part in the second round table. In this second session, they worked on good practices in the management of educational volunteering and strategies to build volunteer loyalty. From their presentations, an enriching debate was generated, with the intervention of the head of volunteering of the Universitat Politècnica de València (Amparo Quilis) and the president of the Plataforma del Voluntariado de la Comunidad Valenciana (Miguel Salvador) among others.

We would like to thank all the entities that have made this training possible and all the participants.
